Aussielab kennels are situated near the small country town of Avoca at the foothills of the Pyrenees ranges surrounded by vineyards in the popular wine producing district of central Victoria, Australia.
Eric and Theresa Booth are dedicated Labrador enthusiasts that regularly compete with their labradors at Obedience and Agility trials. Both are Obedience and Agility instructors at the Ballarat dog obedience club and Eric is a Victorian Canine Association obedience and Rally Judge.
Their involvment with Labradors began in 1995 with Elsa - who produced 'Ruby' and 'Shelley', two yellow females that they began to train in Obedience and Agility and that would reward them with great success in the trial rings. 'Ruby' gaining her Utility dog title and her Masters Agility and Jumping titles. Incidentally 'Ruby' was the first Labrador to gain her Jumping titles in Australia.
Eric and Theresa recognised the need for functional dogs with high play and prey drive if they were going to be successful in their training and this led them to Kadnook kennels where they purchased 'Bonnie' a beautiful yellow bitch of excellent type and temperament that has exceeded their expectations in all areas. 'Bonnie' and her progeny 'Stella' and 'Kira' that were kept for working, have produced some lovely working stock when mated with the Kadnook stud dogs. 'Gemma', another one of Bonnie's pups is currently trialing in the Utility class of obedience and was a finalist in the 2007 VCA Top Agility dog of the year competition.
Aussielab Kennels have provided valuable assistance to the visually impaired by providing dogs for 'The royal society for the blind' 'Seeing eye dogs Australia' and they have also bred Dogs for 'Assistance Dogs Australia' and 'The centre for service and therapy dogs Australia, 'Delta Therapy dogs'. They have also bred tracking and Obedience champions, Track and search dogs and Agility dogs
Eric and Theresa are committed to maintaining the functionality of the Labrador Retriever whilst placing an emphasis on Type, Soundness, and Temperament. They are enjoying their journey in the dog world and invite you to look at the accomplishments of their dogs both past and present..
